What is spirulina?

Spirulina is a blue-green, spiral-shaped, freshwater microalgae, one of the oldest life forms on earth.
It grows in alkaline and salt water, at temperatures of approx. 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit), and it needs light to activate the photosynthesis process (like plants). It’s the only food proposed by NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) to be astronauts’ food for long-term space missions.
NASA has stated that 1 gram of Spirulina has the equivalent nutrient value of 1 kilogram of assorted fruits and vegetables.

What does Spirulina contain?

It contains a various and diverse concentration of nutrients which has been used as a food supplement and it’s regarded as Superfood and wonder drug.

What’s so special about Spiru4?

We grow our fresh Spirulina in our pristine eco-friendly farm located in a sunny and natural protected area in Phuket, Thailand.
We manage the entire process, from the cultivation to the harvesting, packaging and final delivery of our product without intermediaries.
Most large farms grow spirulina in large outdoor tubs. The main problem with this outdoor growing system is the risk of contamination.
It is very difficult, if not impossible, to avoid contamination with harmful substances (pollutants, acid rain) and prevent disease carriers, such as rats, snakes, insects, birds, etc. from accessing the outdoor tubs. Consequently, it is difficult to guarantee a consistent quality standard.
To overcome these obstacles and keep these issues under control, we have opted for a closed cultivation system. In doing so, we can always guarantee the quality and purity of our spirulina, even if this requires more efforts and resources. Cleanliness and quality are of paramount importance for us.
Our transparent tanks allow us to maintain impeccable hygiene standards with obvious benefits to product quality and consumer health.

Dried Spirulina

Organic (BIO) spirulina VS
All Natural spirulina

The organic rules provide for the use of organic fertilisers that can contain toxins, pathogenic organisms, heavy metals and bacteria.

Their heavy use (the needed?/allowed? quantity is today ten times greater than a few years ago) poses higher risk of contamination to the final product.

We use the best non-animal fertilisers for our All Natural Spirulina and we grow it in a closed system.

That’s why our spirulina is safer and of better quality.

Our spirulina is also a vegan superfood because we don’t use any animal components during the entire production process.

Finally, we contribute to the environment sustainability by minimising the use of resources such as land, water, and energy and by reducing waste.

Spirulina is soustainable for the environment

One of the biggest problems in producing food today is sustainability. If we continue along our current path, in the near future we will have land, water and food shortages. Intensive livestock and agriculture simply consume too many resources. Livestock covers 45 % of the Earth’s total landmass. Also, 3/4 of the world’s fishing stock has been depleted. The planet will not be able to sustain this method of food production in the future. If we don’t change our habits, soon, we will have a major problem with vital resources such as water, land, oxygen and food. During the growing process, Spirulina produces oxygen and absorbs 250% CO2 more than rain forest. This great natural air purifier helps maintain clean the air. We can make a big difference, simply by eating fewer animal products and replacing them with plants.
